Gunmen Attack NIPSS Facility In Plateau, Kill Two Soldiers And Policeman

Security operatives were killed after armed men attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Plateau State.

Gunmen attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State, leaving two soldiers and a police officer dead during the assault.

Reports said the attackers stormed the facility late Monday night and opened fire, triggering an exchange with security personnel stationed at the institution.

Authorities confirmed that three security operatives were killed during the incident.

The Head of Public Affairs at NIPSS, Osime Samuel, confirmed the attack and the deaths of the officers, although specific operational details were not immediately disclosed.

The attack drew attention because NIPSS remains one of Nigeria’s foremost policy and strategic institutions, regularly hosting senior government officials, military officers, and public sector leaders for strategic training programmes.

Sources said security personnel engaged the attackers in an effort to prevent them from breaching the facility.

As of the latest reports, authorities had not released further details on the identity of the attackers or possible arrests connected to the incident. Investigations were said to be ongoing.
