Bandits Abduct Zamfara LG Chairman, Kill Four Security Operatives in Midnight Raid

Suspected bandits have abducted the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Hon. Nura Umar Bungudu, after launching a midnight attack on his residence and killing four members of his security detail.

Suspected bandits have kidnapped the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Hon. Nura Umar Bungudu, following a deadly overnight assault on his residence.

The attackers reportedly stormed the chairman’s home in the early hours of Friday, engaging security personnel in a gun battle before whisking him away to an unknown destination. During the attack, four members of his security team were killed while attempting to repel the assailants.

Four Security Operatives Killed

Sources said the armed men arrived in large numbers and overpowered the security operatives attached to the council chairman.

The four slain personnel were said to have fought the attackers before being fatally shot, allowing the gunmen to abduct the local government chairman. Security agencies have yet to announce whether any arrests have been made.

Security Forces Launch Rescue Operation

Following the attack, security operatives reportedly launched a search-and-rescue operation to track down the kidnappers and secure the chairman’s release.

Residents were urged to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist ongoing security operations.

Fresh Wave of Insecurity in Zamfara

The incident is the latest in a series of deadly attacks linked to armed bandits across Zamfara State, where kidnappings, attacks on communities and assaults on government officials have remained a major security challenge.

Authorities have continued military and police operations aimed at dismantling criminal camps across the state.
