Bandits Kill Imam, Three Others, Abduct 12 Residents in Fresh Sokoto Attack

The assailants reportedly invaded the community in the early hours of Saturday, leaving several families displaced.

According to reports, the attackers stormed the village at about midnight, shooting indiscriminately before abducting 12 residents. Among those killed were the village Imam and three other members of the community. The incident forced many residents to flee to nearby communities in search of safety.

Local sources said the attackers operated for several hours before leaving the village with the abducted victims. No official figure indicating injuries was immediately released, while security agencies were said to have been alerted after the attack.

The latest incident adds to a series of attacks recorded in parts of Sokoto State, particularly in communities bordering forests where armed groups have continued to carry out killings and kidnappings. The renewed violence has sustained concerns over security in affected local government areas.

As of the time of reporting, there was no official statement from the Sokoto State Police Command on the attack. Community members appealed for increased security presence to protect residents and prevent further assaults.

Security agencies had yet to announce any arrests in connection with the attack, while efforts to rescue the abducted residents were still being awaited as of Saturday.
