Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six members of the same family from an attempted abduction in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, according to security sources.
The operation also resulted in the reported killing of a suspected terrorist in Sokoto State, according to reports on the military operations in the North-West.
Six Family Members Rescued
Security sources said troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, responded to actionable intelligence concerning an ongoing attack by armed terrorists targeting a family in Tsafe.
The troops reportedly engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon the operation and flee.
Six members of the family were subsequently rescued unharmed and moved to a secure location for preliminary assessment and care, with arrangements reportedly underway to reunite them with their relatives.
Suspected Terrorist Killed
In a separate operation in Sokoto State, troops reportedly engaged suspected terrorists after responding to a security situation.
Reports said one suspected terrorist was killed during the operation.
The military has continued operations across parts of Sokoto and Zamfara under Operation FANSAN YAMMA as security agencies intensify efforts against terrorism and kidnapping in the North-West.
Security Operations Continue
The latest operations form part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt armed groups, prevent abductions and respond to intelligence concerning attacks on communities.
The rescue of the six family members adds to recent operations in the region in which troops have intervened in attempted kidnappings and terrorist attacks.
The identities of the rescued victims and further operational details were not immediately disclosed.
