Fresh violence has erupted in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, where suspected armed herdsmen reportedly killed two people in one community before launching another attack that has left dozens missing.
Suspected armed herdsmen have carried out coordinated attacks on communities in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, leaving at least two people dead and about 30 others missing.
According to local sources, the attackers first invaded Ochobo community, where two residents were reportedly killed. They later launched another assault on Agadagba community, forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes as gunfire echoed across the area.
Dozens Yet to Be Accounted For
Residents said panic spread throughout the community as families fled in different directions to escape the attackers.
A resident, who spoke from a hiding place, said many villagers remain unaccounted for.
“They came shooting sporadically. Many people were killed, while several others escaped into the bush. As I speak, about 30 people are still missing, and we don’t know whether they are alive or dead.”
Fear Grips Communities
The attacks have triggered fresh fear among residents, many of whom have abandoned their homes over concerns that the gunmen could return.
Community members are calling for urgent intervention by security agencies to prevent further attacks and rescue those still missing.
