A community leader was reportedly killed and other inhabitants were kidnapped by several terrorists, popularly known as bandits, during a recent attack on the Unguwan Liman community in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A local resident, Malam Uban Marayu, who said that the gunmen raided the neighborhood on Sunday night and took away an unknown number of individuals and properties, verified this.
It was learned that the terrorists also made threats to retaliate against the neighborhood, according to PUNCH.
They arrived on Sunday at around 10:00 p.m., he claimed. At Unguwan Liman, 3 kilometers from Birnin-Gwari town, they struck at the outskirts of Birnin-Gwari and killed Maiunguwa.
“An unspecified number of people were kidnapped (males and females). In the nearby Kwanan Shehu community they looted shops only. May the mercy and protection of Allah continue to be with us,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, there had been no official response from either the State Government or the police, as there had been no response to a call to the state Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Jalige.
There was also no response to a text message sent to his mobile phone.
