Nigerian Troops Seize Over 400 Starlink Devices Allegedly Used By Boko Haram, ISWAP

Military says recovered communication gadgets were intercepted during operations in North-East

The Nigerian military has confirmed the interception of more than 400 Starlink communication devices allegedly linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists operating in the North-East region.

According to Brigadier-General Beyidi Martins, Commander of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, the devices were recovered during coordinated military offensives across Sambisa Forest, the Timbuktu Triangle, and other insurgent enclaves. The disclosure was made during a briefing with defence correspondents on ongoing anti-terror operations.

Military authorities stated that the recovered Starlink terminals were allegedly being used by insurgents to maintain communication networks and coordinate attacks across remote locations in the region. Security analysts believe the discovery highlights the increasing use of advanced technology by terrorist groups operating within the Lake Chad axis.

The development has triggered renewed concerns over how sophisticated communication equipment continues to reach insurgent groups despite ongoing security operations and border monitoring efforts.

Authorities, however, insist that recent operations have significantly weakened the logistics and communication capacity of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in the North-East theatre.
